Contest: The Student Becomes the Master by Mrs-Durden, journal
Contest: The Student Becomes the Master
Hello all, I've been trying to think of different types of contests that wouldn't be too difficult, since I know we're all exhausted from surviving 2020. This will be the first type of contest/challenge we've done in a while, considering how much things have changed since the site update, so hopefully it works out well. Of course, we're always open to your feedback and suggestions! The Prompt The prompt is simple: use one (or more) of the tutorials that have been posted through @projecteducate to create artwork that you'll submit as an entry to this contest. While at first this may seem only relevant to beginners in any art medium, we do also have tutorials for more advanced artists. Furthermore, you can try your hand at a different art medium, or a different style of art you might not be familiar with. Some tutorials go beyond just telling you something basic like "how to draw a horse" and instead discuss matters of style. Also, some tutorials don't have to do with the artwork

Dear all,
I don't plan on going into depth about the current world situation, I think everyone is well aware of the pandemic and its effects. Indeed, many have lost their jobs, been put on part-time work, have had to close their businesses or faced other similar financial effects due to Covid-19 spreading worldwide.
It goes without saying that artists have also been affected. While right now is certainly a time where spe

All Mediums Contest: The Masterpieces by Mrs-Durden, journal
All Mediums Contest: The Masterpieces
Dear members,
I hope you're all doing well and are able to stay safe during these times. As many of you expressed this would be a good time for a contest, despite what is going on in the world, here we are! Please carefully read this journal in order to understand the prompt and rules!
The Prompt
Most of us were inspired by the world's masterpieces and master artists at some point during our artistic journey. Some of us even recreated some of these masterpieces to help us learn and grow as artists. Artists like Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Vermeer, Rembrandt, have all made immense contributions to the world of art that can still be felt today.

Watercolour portrait: step by step walkthrough
Community Week
Hi! I'm Luciferys and I'm going to show you a step by step of how I work with watercolors.
Art supplies:
Not pictured here, but I also used a jar of water and a paper towel.
Step 1:
I chose 300 gsm hot pressed watercolor paper and I cut the paper in half (this making it A4 in size).
I taped the paper to a hard surface (this will keep the paper in place and also preserve a white border) and started sketching. I usually try to keep the sketch simple.

Step 2:
I covered the edges of the character with masking liquid using a silicone brush (it's easy to clean and it doesn't get ruined by the masking liquid). Mask

Software Introduction Week: How You Can Help by Mrs-Durden, journal
Software Introduction Week: How You Can Help
Dear members,
For the veterans among you, you might remember the very first Software Introduction Week we ran last year. We were able to introduce you to a variety of art-related software, with the aim of each article to simply give you the basics on how to get started in each software.
Since there is a lot of software we were not able to cover that week, we are hosting yet another one! We already have discussions ongoing with people to write about GIMP, Clip Studio Paint and hopefully Procreate. However, here is a list of software we still need people to write about (based on what members have requested):
